Renaissance Exercise is a high intensity exercise that is the most efficient method of challenging the muscular strength of the entire body in order to stimulate the progressive adaptation of muscular growth. By appearance it is simply contracting against a resistance in 10 seconds and returning in 10 seconds. In reality there is more involved. The real objective is to keep the involved muscles under a constant load great enough that those muscles are progressively weakened from that effort and reach a point of momentary failure; inability to overcome that load. This relatively stressful situation is the essence of exercise. It is a very unnatural thing to do yet it remains completely safe because it is under strict control and it is completely of one’s own volition. Nothing is imposed from outside one’s own effort and control. It requires extreme concentration and a keen awareness of the various natural tendencies to escape the momentary stress. This is why having an experienced instructor is necessary.
